#48 Napoleon Douglas — Doing It Live

Introducing The Infinite Creative, a newsletter for those who are creative, curious and constantly looking for opportunities to learn and grow. Read what I’m learning and thinking about when it comes to being more intentional, productive and impactful as a creative - one idea per day.

My guest on this episode is Napoleon Douglas.

An actor, singer and entrepreneur, Napoleon earned a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Drake University and a M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship from Southern New Hampshire University.

In this wide ranging conversation, we talk about the teacher that fostered Napoleon’s talent early on, and how he was able to return the favour a few years later to help her set up City Voices, a non-profit that provides arts education at no charge to many more young people in his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa.

Napoleon describes how the contracts he booked straight out of school offered him stage experience and also showed him the rest of the regional theatre business - from the box office to the kitchen.

He talks about why he decided to do a post grad MBA in entrepreneurship and became known backstage as the accounting kid.
